Fifth Form 2

Wednesday 23/5/17

Over the past few weeks we have been taking part in our whole school Marathon Mission and on Friday we ran our final lap. We were lucky enough to be visited by Eamon Coughlan for the occasion and he presented a trophy to the boy who best represented what the Marathon Mission is all about. We were blessed with the weather and had a great day!

Here are some pictures from our Sports Day last Friday.

We were lucky enough to have Biz World from Bank of Ireland visit us and run their entrepreneur workshop with us. The boys were split into groups and asked to come up with a viable invention to market to their peers and the boys in Fourth Form, they even had a Dragon's Den type interview with Mrs Hogan and a reprensentative from Bank of Ireland. We had a fantastic two days and everyone was really impressed with our ideas.

 Thanks you Biz World!!

The boys in 4th and 5th Form participated in a Gaelic football blitz organised by Kilmacud GAA on Monday May 15th and again on Monday May 22nd. .  Other participating schools included Holly Park, Our Lady's Grove, and St. Laurence's.  All the boys were challenged by tough opposition in each game and improved with every game.  We wish to say a special thanks to all the parents who offered to help out owith transport on both days.

We have been studying procedural writing and decided to test out some of the recipes we have been writing. The boys did a fantastic job and gave Master Chef a run for its money. Check out our amazing creations!

We recently did a lesson on perspective drawing. Our whole class mastered the technique really quickly and Ms Larkin was really impressed with the results. We are looking forward to using it again in our future art lessons.

We have recently finished our novel Guns of Easter by Gerard Whelan. Take a look at the comic books we created to summarise the story.

During Engineers Week we took a trip to the Waterworks in ringsend to see how the plany operates. We had a great time.

We have just finished reading Wonder by R.J Palacio, a fantastic novel about bullying. We really enjoyed the book and decided to create a Wonder corner in our classroom. We also created "Bloom Balls", based on Bloom's taxonomy of learning, which are hanging above our Wonder corner.
